Good vision is essential to a child's development, learning, and quality of life. Studies suggest that approximately 80% of learning in the classroom is visual. Yet many vision problems in children go undetected because children often do not know what normal vision looks like and cannot communicate that something is wrong.

Regular eye exams are the only reliable way to detect vision problems early.

More Than 20/20

A vision screening at school or the pediatrician's office is not the same as a comprehensive eye exam. Screenings only test for distance vision and miss a wide range of conditions that can affect a child's ability to learn and thrive, including:

• Amblyopia (lazy eye)
• Strabismus (crossed or turned eyes)
• Convergence insufficiency
• Focusing problems
• Color vision deficiency
  

Many of these conditions are highly treatable when caught early but become significantly harder to correct as a child gets older.
